Privacy Policy

What this site is

mmmusic is a static, self-hosted website, buying guides, care guides and a classical & audiophile review archive. There's no login, no account system, no shopping cart, and no server-side database logging what visitors do. This policy covers everything the site itself does; it doesn't cover the sites it links out to, which are explained separately below.

What we don't collect

No cookies. No analytics or tracking scripts of any kind, no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no ad-network tags. No visitor profiling, no fingerprinting, nothing that follows you between pages or across the web. Every image, font and script the site loads is self-hosted on our own domain; nothing is fetched from a third-party tracking or advertising server as part of a normal page load.

What we do store, and where

The one exception is the "Shop ambience" music toggle in the navigation. If you start it playing, your browser's own sessionStorage remembers whether it was playing and roughly how far through the track you'd got, so the music can carry on rather than restart if you follow a link to another page. That information stays entirely in your browser, it's never sent to us, never logged anywhere, and disappears automatically the moment you close the browser tab. If you'd rather it didn't remember anything, clearing your browser's site data for mmmusic.co.uk removes it immediately.

Beyond that single case, the site has no mechanism for storing anything about a visit. There's no contact form collecting an email address either, the contact page lists a direct email address instead, which reaches us the same way any email does and isn't logged or processed by this site in any special way.

Outbound links: Amazon and Discogs

Where an article or review points you toward buying something, a turntable, a recording, storage furniture, it links out to Amazon or Discogs rather than selling anything directly, exactly as the About page explains. Those are real, independent third-party sites with their own privacy policies and their own cookies and tracking, entirely outside our control once you click through. None of those links are currently affiliate links; if that changes, we'll say so plainly on the page rather than let it happen quietly, and this policy will be updated to match.

Hosting and security

mmmusic is a static site, the pages you see are pre-built files served as-is, not generated per-visitor from a database. There's no visitor-data database to be breached because there isn't one to begin with. Whatever hosting infrastructure serves these files may keep the kind of basic technical connection logs (IP address, timestamp, requested file) that any web server generates by default, purely for keeping the service running and secure, mmmusic doesn't access, analyse or repurpose those logs for any other reason.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, anyone whose personal data is processed has the right to know what's held about them, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if they think something's wrong. In mmmusic's case there's very little of that to exercise, since the site doesn't collect or store personal data beyond the browser-local audio preference described above, but if you have a question about any of this, the contact page is the way to reach us.

Changes to this policy

If what the site actually does changes, a contact form goes live, analytics gets added, outbound links become affiliate links, this page will be updated to describe the new reality honestly, the same way the rest of the site handles a change: plainly, and without waiting to be asked.
