About mmmusic

What this site is

mmmusic covers two things: practical, honest guidance for building and looking after a vinyl collection, storage, turntables, cleaning and care, and a genuine archive of classical and audiophile reviews, continuing a run that started decades before this site existed. Every review is either the original text recovered from that archive, or, where the original didn't survive, written fresh from independently verified facts. We say which is which on every page.

What this site isn't

We're not a shop. Where we mention buying something, a turntable, a recording, storage furniture, we link out to Amazon or Discogs rather than sell it ourselves, and none of those links are currently affiliate links. If that changes as the site grows, we'll say so plainly rather than let it happen quietly.

We're also not McAlister Matheson Music, the original shop this domain belonged to. That company was dissolved in January 2018. We continue its genuine review archive because it's good, real work worth preserving, not because we're the same business. The full history is on the journal.

How we handle facts

No invented statistics, no fabricated quotes, no reviews attributed to a real historical writer unless we're actually reproducing their words. Where we couldn't verify something, we've left it out rather than guessed.
